Tom Vander Aa, an EPEEC researcher from the ExaScience Life Lab at imec, delivered a talk titled “Exascale Matrix Factorization: Using Supercomputers and Machine Learning for Drug Discovery” on two occasions recently. Besides introducing the ExCAPE project and its aim of helping the pharmaceutical industry in their drug discovery process, he also explained how other projects such as EPEEC helped improve scaling of Matrix Factorization even further.
On May 15, he presented at EuroHPC Summit Week 2019 in Poznan, Poland. His talk was part of a session called PRACEdays Scientific Track 8: Computation Science/Towards exascale which took place in Room F at 6:30 pm. Attendees included European HPC stakeholders, from technology suppliers and HPC infrastructures to scientific and industrial HPC users in Europe.
On May 21, Tom was a guest at the 9th POP User Webinar, where he also talked about EPEEC´s role in helping drug discovery. POP is a Centre of Excellence in HPC focused on Performance Optimisation and Productivity. Their webinar audience includes code developers, HPC users and infrastructure operators.
